Taking a fresh pair of eyes to a completed document is what proofreading is all about. I will check for spelling and grammar, punctuation and consistency throughout, as well as double-checking layout. I can work in a variety of formats, depending on what you need.
On-screen proofreading in Word
I can work directly with your Word files, using the 'Track Changes' function, enabling you to see all the changes I make to your file, along with any queries in the 'Comments' facility (I will also collate these queries into a separate list).
On-screen proofreading in PDF
I will proofread and mark up digital PDF proofs using the comment and mark-up tools, applying British Standards (BSI) proofreading symbols for clarity when needed. As the files at this stage tend to be on the large size, I can either return these via email in a zip folder, upload to your FTP site, or via a file transfer system of your preference. I will also collate any queries into a separate Word file.
Paper print proofreading
I can proofread and mark up a paper printout of your document using the BSI marks for proof-correction. I will also note any queries as I go along, compiling these into a list for you to check at the end.
